A Professional Backup Software for Windows
Nowadays we often use computers in our life or work to store some important files, precious videos or pictures. But we may suffer data loss from our Windows computers due to accidental deletion, sudden power failure, virus attack, BSOD, etc. This is so terrible because sometimes we cannot get these important data back.
So we try to use a tool to back up our important data to avoid data loss. Then which tool is the best one to back up data? The answer is MiniTool ShadowMaker.
What is MiniTool ShadowMaker?
MiniTool ShadowMaker is a piece of free and powerful backup software for Windows. It is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows Servers. We can save the data to HDD, SSD, USB external disks, hardware RAID as well as Network Attached Storage (NAS).
MiniTool ShadowMaker offers you a Trail Edition that allows a 30-day free trial for all the features. What’s better, MiniTool ShadowMaker allows us to manage remote computers as long as the computers are on the same LAN and we have the remote computer’s IP address.
In addition to the Backup feature, MiniTool ShadowMaker also has other powerful features. Let’s take a look at its features.
Main Features of MiniTool ShadowMaker
Backup Feature
The Back Feature is the basic feature of MiniTool ShadowMaker, which can help us protect our data. We can use this feature to back up files, folders, partitions, disks, and even our operating system.
By default, MiniTool ShadowMaker backs up our system and chooses the back destination. But we can click Source and Destination to change the backup source and destination. The backup data will be compressed to image files, so we cannot directly access them.
There are three useful buttons under the Backup page, which have been listed below.
- Schedule allows us to perform regular backups, such as once a week or once a month.
- Scheme allows us to perform different backup schemes: Full backup, Incremental backup and Differential backup.
- Options allows us to set some advanced parameters, such as adding comments for backups, shutting down after backing up our data and set password for back data.
Restore Feature
As we have mentioned above, backup images cannot be accessed directly, so we need to use the Restore feature to restore them when we need them. This feature is great because it can easily restore the system to the original hardware or hard disk.
What’s better, when we try to restore our system to a different computer, MiniTool ShadowMaker 3.2 helps us avoid the incompatibility issue.
Sync Feature
Another useful feature that can help protect our data is the Sync feature. We can use this feature to sync files and folders to more than one location with high transferring speed (even large files). Unlike backup images files, we can view the files and folders directly without restoring them.
Media Builder Feature
When our system crashes, then we cannot boot our computer. But luckily, there is a wonderful feature on the Tools page that we can use to create bootable media – Media Builder. When our computer fails to boot, then we can use the bootable media to boot our computer so that we can enter the MiniTool Recovery Environment to perform some recovery solutions.
Clone Disk Feature
The Clone Disk feature plays a critical role if we want to upgrade our disk to a larger one. Using this feature to clone a whole disk won’t cause any damage to the original data. We can use this feature to make external hard drive bootable as well as clone simple volumes on the dynamic disk.
Back up Windows System Using MiniTool ShadowMaker
We have introduced most features of MiniTool ShadowMaker above, and this part we want to show you how to use this tool to back up your Windows system. Here is a simple guide:
Step 1: Download and launch MiniTool ShadowMaker 3.2, click Connect under This Computer to get into the main interface.
Step 2: Go to the Backup page, MiniTool ShadowMaker selects the system as the source and choose a backup destination by default. But it is recommended to choose an external hard drive to save the system image. So click the Destination to change the destination.
Step 3: Click Back up Now to start the backup task. We can also click Back up Later to delay the task, but we need to click Back up Now to restart the backup task on the Manage page.
Final Words
MiniTool ShadowMaker is a piece of professional backup software, and this tool possesses multiple brilliant features such as Sync as well as Clone Disk, so using this tool to protect our data is a good idea. What’s more, we can choose to manage our own computers locally or remotely.
